The nematode galls have been disseminated
through infested/ contaminated seed to practically all wheat producing
regions of the world and at one time or the other has been reported from
most of the European countries, Asiatic region of the USSR. Israel,
Syria, China, Pakistan, Australia, New’ Zealand, Egypt, Brazil, India,
USA-The nematode galls have been referred to under various names in
different countries. Purples, ear-cockles and pepper corns are the
common names for England; radenkrankheit for Germany; blenielle for
France; eelworm disease, cockle wheat, nematode galls for USA; and
sehun for India. The bacterial disease of wheat, commonly associated
with it, is popularly known as 'yellow slimy disease' or in vernacular
as 'tundu' or 'tannan'.
