Morphology

 

The female body is almost straight when relaxed. It is com­monly known as the stem and bulb nematode. It is a migratory

 

endoparasites feeding on parenchymatous tissues of stems and bulbs of plants. Lip region is low, unstriated, slightly flattened with mode­rate sclerotization in the head region. The spear is about 10- 12 Pm long with distinct knobs. The oesophageal bulb butts onto or slightly overlaps the intestine with a small valve at their junction. Tail is conoid, with a sharply pointed terminus. A post-vulval sac is present which extends about half-way to the anus.

The male nematodes are similar to females with ventrally curved spicules.
